Our Environmental Mission
Baton LLC strives to satisfy customers’ need for green building solutions with beautiful, realistic, “eco-efficient” products that have been manufactured with the utmost regard for the environment. We consider the environment to be an integral and important part of all our business activities, and we take pride in the role we play in helping to protect it. This begins with promoting a mindset of environmental awareness and protection throughout our organization and extends to creating new and greener products utilizing waste materials that would otherwise be disposed of. It then comes full circle in manufacturing these products with techniques within our facilities that advance environmental improvements though our production processes and logistics.
How can the AirStone system contribute to LEED points?
According to the U.S. Green Building Council, the LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) rating system “promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.”
Through its recycled content and lighter weight, Baton stone can contribute to LEED points in the following ways:
- Energy and Atmosphere
Improved Energy Performance: The recycled materials used in this product provide insulation that would not be associated with conventional artificial stone. This reduces the energy demand of the building.
- Materials and Resources
Recycled Content: AirStone is made from 70% recycled materials.
- Innovation in Design:
AirStone is comprised of a proprietary formula that makes them 75% lighter than real stone and 50% lighter than manufactured concrete stone. The result is fewer structural requirements for a building and a 50% reduction in shipping weight versus other manufactured stone. Now less packaging is needed and more product can be shipped per truck, which can lower fuel consumption.
